For more than two decades, Branksome Hall has had a longstanding relationship with the Get Ahead Project (GAP) School in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. This partnership was initiated by philanthropist Peter Oliver and through his vision, together with Karrie Weinstock’s educational expertise, Branksome Hall's strong connection with the GAP School evolved to include annual Branksome Hall school visits to GAP, faculty mentorship and educational projects. On March 12, Karrie Weinstock, Branksome’s Head, Centre for Strategic Leadership, attended a special Assembly at the GAP School in South Africa where she was honoured with the Giraffe Award, recognition for an individual whose kindness, generosity and support has made a meaningful impact on the GAP community.
By Morgan and Karen (WAC 2025 Communications Heads) and Ruhani (WAC 2025 Co-Chair)
On March 5, 2025, students, teachers and staff from secondary schools across the Greater Toronto Area gathered for the 42nd annual World Affairs Conference (WAC), organized by Branksome Hall and Upper Canada College. This year’s theme, WAC to the Future, encouraged participants to think critically about the path ahead and sparked conversations about how to work together to shape a better future.
The PrincipalED podcast has officially dropped its second episode, “Hockey Day with the Branksome Highlanders,” featuring a candid conversation with Branksome Hall’s very own hockey stars.
Each day, more than 900 students benefit from your generosity. Quite simply, you touch the life of every student, providing endless possibilities to explore, take risks and feel valued for their unique talents, igniting a lifelong love of learning.
At Branksome Hall, we’re not just enriching students’ minds – we’re giving them minds of their own. So they can challenge the status quo, set new standards, and carve their own path to success.
Our Stepping Stones Donor Wall is officially Gold! This initiative brought home top honours in the "Miscellaneous Interactive Media" category at the Annual Educational Advertising Awards. We outplaced more than 2,000 entries from approximately 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools internationally, impressing a panel of higher-education marketers, creative directors and marketing and advertising professionals.
Don’t miss your chance to check out this award-winning Stepping Stones Donor Wall. It's already 71% sold, but there's still time to secure your unique legacy in the iCAST lobby.
Grade 5 student Audrey swung her way to victory this March Break when she won the championship at the Top 50 Scholarship Junior Golf Tour Spring Open! What an amazing way to begin the 2025 season! 👏🏼
We are so proud of Audrey and can’t wait to hear more about her 2025 golf journey later this year. 💚
Mme Talaat and Mme Diallo extend their heartfelt congratulations to Julia, Waverly, Ayun, Chloé, Titoluwa, Maya, Liliane, Cici and Emma! These talented students participated in the regional competition of the 2025 Concours d’art oratoire, the largest French public-speaking event in Ontario for students in Grades 9–12 studying French as a Second Language (FSL). Participants showcased their French language proficiency through both Traditional and Impromptu speaking formats.
A special congratulations to Waverly, Chloé, Tito, Cici and Emma, who achieved first place in their respective categories and will be competing at the provincial level on May 3, 2025!
Participation in this prestigious event has not only earned our students well-deserved recognition but has also strengthened their confidence and skills in French public speaking. We hope their success will continue to inspire others to explore the enriching world of French oratory. 🇫🇷
Ms. McCann had a thrilling time in Monaco over the March Break as she participated in the Virginie Heriot Trophy Women's Sailing championships! ⛵️
Ms. McCann raced as the mainsail trimmer and tactics position and was the only Canadian at the regatta. After racing in challenging wind and wave conditions, the team finished strong with two fourth place and two seventh place finishes, competing against top Olympic sailors. "It is wonderful to see such strong support and sponsorship for female sailors to break barriers and gain greater international recognition for women's sports," Ms. McCann noted after the event.
A huge congratulations to Ms. McCann and the team! 👏🏽 📸: Yacht Club de Monaco

Nowruz, the Persian New Year, marks the start of spring and is a celebration of new beginnings. It has been celebrated for more than 3,000 years and is historically observed by Persians and other Iranian peoples and also by many others worldwide.
Branksome Hall wishes a happy Nowruz to all who celebrate! 💚
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.*
*The Land Acknowledgement may evolve as we honour our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation in partnership with Indigenous communities.
