Meet Keira Sockalingam

Some high schoolers choose a career. She chose her purpose.

Watching her dad make a difference as a doctor has allowed Keira Sockalingam to realize her passion of helping others and giving back to her community. Next year, Keira is looking forward to attending Western University for Health Sciences.

“All of my Branksome courses and teachers have prepared me so incredibly well,” she says. Keira not only credits her IB studies at Branksome Hall, but her teachers and School Counsellors as well, for setting her up for success in this next chapter of her life. “They really put your best interests at heart.”

From her participation in clubs and Athletics, to the unwavering support from her teachers, Keria is confident that her collective experiences at Branksome Hall have contributed to the woman she is today. “Branksome’s always going to be a place of nostalgia for me. I grew up here, and I really got to shape myself as an adult,” she explains.

Keira is looking forward to leading with compassion and kindness in this next chapter of her life.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.*

*The Land Acknowledgement may evolve as we honour our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation in partnership with Indigenous communities.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
