Meet Milla Mason

Flying High as Captain

Ever since Milla was five years old she loved airplanes more than anything, and she set her sights on flying as pilot.

She’s now on her way to Western University to study commercial aviation management, where she’ll earn her pilot’s licence with multi-engine and instrument ratings, while also pursuing a degree in management and organizational studies.

“I chose this because I am continuing to get a higher level of education while also achieving my dream of becoming a pilot,” she says. “I’m most excited about having the opportunity to fly every day.”

Milla’s end goal is to fly as a captain for Air Canada, becoming one of the few female pilots in the industry.

She believes Branksome not only fostered her work ethic, but also her courage, independence and ambition to always strive to be her best—all of which she’ll draw on as she enters the male-dominated field of aviation.

“I want little girls aspiring to be pilots, like I did, to see that there are female captains,” she says.

The sky’s the limit for Milla as she sets out to pursue her dreams, while becoming a role model and an inspiration for others.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.*

*The Land Acknowledgement may evolve as we honour our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation in partnership with Indigenous communities.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
