Grade 8 Academics

Grade 8 Academics

Welcome to Grade 8, a year where you will continue to grow in your independence and autonomy as learners while being role models and leaders for Grade 7 students. It is a year of tremendous personal growth as you explore new concepts and ideas in your second year of the MYP programme. As a new student in Grade 8 you have a choice in course selection of Vocal or Instrumental Music. As well, depending on your previous French experience, you will develop stronger French language skills through our Core or Extended program. You will also nurture stronger design-thinking skills and explore how all of your approaches to learning skills can continue to be developed and applied in various learning environments.

Grade 8 is a year to be leaders, whether it is through formal or informal roles both within the Middle School and the greater Branksome Hall community. Grade 8 in the MYP programme allows you to discover new co-curriculars and Clubs or try something new in Athletics or through broader community engagements. Throughout the school year, you can enjoy a number of social events, and at the end of the school year, we look forward to a fun-filled celebration of your Middle School years as you transition into the Senior School. Our School Counsellors, Advisors and Homeroom teachers are always eager to answer any questions you may have.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.*

*The Land Acknowledgement may evolve as we honour our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation in partnership with Indigenous communities.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
