Yalda (Iranian Winter Solstice Celebration)

Yalda, also known as Shab-e Yalda, is an ancient Persian festival celebrating the longest night of the year. Families gather to share poetry, fruits, nuts and pomegranates, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness. It's a time to strengthen bonds, reflect on the past year and look forward to the brighter days ahead.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River.
