Tawfiq Popatia
Tawfiq is Co-Head of Onex Partners, responsible for Onex Partners’ operations and overall performance. He is a member of the Investment Committee and oversees Onex Partners’ origination efforts in Aerospace and Transportation-focused industries. Since joining Onex, Tawfiq has led Onex Partners’ investments in WestJet, Advanced Integration Technology, and BBAM and its related investments in FLY Leasing and Meridian Aviation.
Tawfiq currently serves on the boards of WestJet, AIT and BBAM, and previously served on the boards of Celestica and Spirit AeroSystems. He is a Trustee of the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). Prior to joining Onex, Tawfiq worked at Hellman & Friedman LLC, a San Francisco-based private equity firm. Previously, Tawfiq worked in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley & Co. and Morgan Stanley Asia Pacific. He currently has three daughters attending Branksome.
