Heather McCann

CAT 2: Individuals and Societies
Heather has taught the MYP program for 23 years at Branksome Hall, an IB World School in Toronto, Canada. She has had the great pleasure of sharing her knowledge of the IB curriculum with teachers across the Americas, Europe and Asia, leading MYP I&S workshops and accrediting IB schools as a Verification team member. She has also worked as an MYP curriculum consultant to schools such as Upper Canada College and St. John's-Kilmarnock School.

As a classroom teacher, she teaches MYP and  DP History with a focus on collaborative inquiry based teaching and learning, and enjoys helping teachers design authentic assessment tasks. When not teaching, she coaches the Branksome ski team, rides horses and skippers an all women's sailboat; competing at national and international levels.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
