Meet Kalista Clement: Branksome’s New Boarding Director

Branksome Hall is pleased to share that Ms. Kalista Clement has been appointed the school’s new Director of Boarding. She officially began her role this week, on July 1, 2024.

A longstanding colleague at Branksome, Kalista previously served in the role of Middle School Guidance Counsellor and International Languages Program Coordinator. She comes to this role with significant previous experience in Boarding, having been both a Boarding Advisor and Interim Senior Boarding Advisor at Branksome Hall.
Those who collaborate with Kalista note her strong work ethic, thoughtful and kind approach, and her profound care for young people. She has a wealth of experience in Social-Emotional Learning, an excellent understanding of the International Baccalaureate programme, and strong and established relationships with many community members. Kalista also brings an equity mindset, and a commitment to fostering international mindedness.

When asked what led her to work in a school environment, Kalista said: “I have known I wanted to work in education since I was in high school as I've always enjoyed helping people learn and grow. I became interested in Boarding after graduating from teacher's college and enjoyed it so much that I'm thrilled to be rejoining Branksome's Boarding community in the Director role.”

Kalista is looking forward to getting to know the Boarding students through individual conversations, Boarding dinners and events. She is especially keen to hear from students about what they want to do and learn more about.

Outside of work, Kalista says she loves to walk and explore new areas of the city. “I can walk for hours and not get tired. I am a fan of the arts, so I also like to go to the theatre to see musicals, plays and movies, as well as go to concerts and visit art galleries. I enjoy reading and singing karaoke and like to stay active by regularly doing yoga and participating in dance classes. I used to dance in both Irish and Scottish styles growing up, but I love all dance styles.”

Welcome back to Boarding, Kalista! We look forward to hearing about Boarding’s adventures over the 2024–25 school year.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.*

*The Land Acknowledgement may evolve as we honour our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation in partnership with Indigenous communities.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
