Branksome Lifesaving Club Hosts Seasonal TeleGames
Branksome Hall Lifesaving Club (BHLC) held its in-house TeleGames on Sunday, November 17, offering a fun, low-pressure swim meet for participants to showcase their lifesaving skills and introduce them to friendly competition.
This event saw 16 swimmers, including students from Branksome Hall along with participants from weekend BHLC programs, come together to compete in a series of Lifesaving Sport events. The competition was open to anyone who can swim 25 metres, with newcomers welcome to join.
“This meet is designed to introduce swimmers to the world of competition while also building important skills in the water,” said Jeremy Wong, Branksome Hall Aquatics Coordinator. “We aim to make the experience enjoyable and supportive for all our swimmers.”
The TeleGames featured a variety of challenges, including the 100-metre Swim with Fins Relay, the 4-metre Throwing Accuracy event, a 50-metre Manikin Carry and 25-metre Front Crawl and Breaststroke races.
Times recorded at the event will be shared with families in the form of certificates and submitted to the Lifesaving Society for comparison with other swimmers across Ontario.
Lifesaving Sport is a co-curricular program that helps students gain proficiency in swimming while learning valuable life-saving skills. These experiences are integral to ensuring students not only improve their swimming abilities, but also develop a greater understanding of water safety.
