Middle School Rocks! Celebrating a Remarkable Year for Our Grades 7 and 8 Students

Although time spent in the Middle School is brief, the amount of growth and transformation students undergo is immense. The final week of school this year served as a celebration of the achievements of our Middle School students, giving them a well-deserved send-off for the summer as our Grade 7s prepare to take on the role of Middle School leaders and our Grade 8s move on to the Senior School.
Celebrations kicked off with the final Middle School Assembly of the year in the Athletics and Wellness Centre on Monday, June 10. Grades 7 and 8 students, parents and employees came together to honour an eventful year. Students presented on Athletics, the Arts, cultural celebrations and more. The Assembly concluded with Grade 8 Reps and Clan leaders saying goodbye to their Grade 7 friends, and in turn, Grade 7 students expressed their gratitude for the leadership their peers had provided for them over the year.

Many Middle School math enthusiasts were presented with awards for the various competitions that took place throughout the year, but it was the results of the Caribou Math contest that had students most excited. A global competition with thousands of participants, students compete in the hopes of being named top scorers, gaining worldwide recognition. Grade 7 student Monic's exceptional performance placed her among the top 1% of all participants across the globe, showcasing her remarkable mathematical abilities.

After enjoying a slideshow filled with memories, Grade 8 students and their families were invited to a reception in the Athletics and Wellness Centre Dining Hall, where they enjoyed treats and chatted with friends. Many conversations were filled with excitement and anticipation of the Grade 8 trip to Canada’s Wonderland, an amazing way to end a remarkable year. On this special field trip the next day, Grade 8 students relished their final moments together as Middle School students, going on thrilling rides, playing carnival games and eating sweets.

We wish our Grade 8 students all the best in the Senior School, and look forward to seeing how our future Middle School leaders will inspire and mentor their Grade 7 peers in the fall.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.*

*The Land Acknowledgement may evolve as we honour our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation in partnership with Indigenous communities.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
