Debate

Branksome’s Debating and Public Speaking Society celebrated its 60th anniversary in the 2024–25 school year. With more than 50 students in Grades 5 to 12 participating each year, the program’s numerous highlights have included Branksome hosting the 31st World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships in 2019, Branksome students Helen Ziomecki, Anna Gage and Zeenia Framroze earning the title of World Champion in 2025, 2024 and 2010 respectively, and being twice named the top Canadian debate school at the International Independent Schools' Public Speaking Competition.

Model United Nations

Over the years, this program for students in Grades 7–12 has turned into something of a family endeavour, where older students uplift the younger ones and everyone is encouraged to use their voices to effect change. Amongst other MUN conferences, Branksome’s MUN delegates travel to the Netherlands every year to participate in The Hague International Model United Nations, often the only Canadian school there.

Every spring, hundreds of secondary students, teachers and staff from across the GTA gather to hear acclaimed speakers and distinguished local, national and global leaders.
