App Lab
Design the Look. Code the Logic. Build the Stack.
Stop scrolling and start building this summer! Launch your ideas with Slingshot App Lab—a three-level pathway where young tech enthusiasts design and build real digital apps, developing creativity, problem-solving and digital literacy.
This unique program gives students skills typically offered in a post-secondary setting. Levels 1 and 2 teach accessible app-building, from concept to code to live data integration. Level 3, arriving fall 2026, advances to publish-ready app design.
Whether new to coding or already experimenting, participants gain hands-on experience, real skills and the confidence to create technology, not just consume it.
Registration opens January 21, 2026.
Program Features
App Lab takes you from beginner to builder to launcher. Start with simple productivity apps, level up to real coding with APIs and live data, and progress toward deployable, polished prototypes. Along the way, creators build core competencies in UI/UX, front-end and back-end development, and creative problem-solving.
Hands-On Learning
With collaborative workshops and visits to Toronto’s top tech spaces, learn to build real apps, not simulations.
Real-World Coding Tools
Work with the platforms professionals use. From Figma to React Native, creators learn industry-relevant tools early.
Publish-Ready Outcomes
Advance to App Store-level products. By Level 3, creators explore testing, deployment and launch workflows.
Creative +Technical Skill Development
This is where imagination meets engineering! Learn design thinking, UI/UX, logic and data—skills that power the future of work.
Program outcomes
Upon finishing each level of the App Lab program, participants will earn a certificate of completion for inclusion on their LinkedIn profile, showcasing their technical skills and innovation experience—a standout credential for resumes, leadership applications, interviews and future opportunities.
