Guardian Requirement
Boarding students whose parents do not currently reside in Toronto are required to have a legal custodian arrangement in place while attending Branksome Hall.
If you do not have someone local who can serve as legal custodian, Branksome Hall can suggest organizations for you to contact regarding this requirement.
Assessment and Interview Requirements
Grades 7 & 8
Students applying for Grades 7–8 are asked to prepare a portfolio to present during the interview. This portfolio can be created using any medium that best represents the student and allows the interviewer to learn more about them.
During the interview, students will first present their portfolio (approximately 10 minutes) and answer questions, followed by a discussion with the parents/guardians.
The Graded 7–8 "All About Me" Portfolio Share Components include:
- A teacher-marked writing sample from Grade 6 – copy to be kept on file.
- A teacher-marked Mathematics test from Grade 6 – copy to be kept on file.
- A discussion of a school project from the current or past year – sample optional, no copy required.
- A few samples, photos or awards that demonstrate the applicant's interests and recent accomplishments.
To help the applicant prepare, please refer to the Success Criteria.

Grades 9–11 applicants are required to either write our Branksome Hall Math and English Entrance Tests or submit their results of the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test).
No preference is given to either test in the admissions process.
More details on Branksome Hall tests will be shared with applicants throughout the Admissions process.
