How We TEACH

SKILLS FOR A CHANGING WORLD

Branksome Hall is Toronto’s only all-years independent International Baccalaureate (IB) World School for girls, offering Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. With a globally focused curriculum, international faculty and state-of-the-art facilities, we foster intellectual curiosity and advanced problem-solving skills essential for thriving in a complex, changing world.

From our downtown Toronto campus to our sister school in South Korea, our students are prepared to attend the world’s most prestigious universities, many earning scholarships. Every student is challenged to aim higher, grow personally and develop as a future leader.

JUNIOR SCHOOL

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) fosters holistic development and a lifelong love of learning. From Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6, students are challenged to think critically, research deeply and develop globally minded perspectives. The PYP framework evolves with the latest research on brain development and learning.

SENIOR & MIDDLE SCHOOL

Branksome Hall’s Middle Years Programme (MYP) for Grades 7–10 fosters critical thinking, perspective seeking, creativity, interdisciplinary learning and problem solving, preparing students for future academic success.

In the Full Diploma or IB Select pathways for Grades 11–12, students continue to build independence, refine critical and creative thinking, problem seeking and solving, and are supported every step of the way toward success in universities worldwide.

Shaping a Better World

We take informed and sustainable student-led action, recognizing that no action is sometimes best. Our learning takes place through critical and continuous reflection to become responsible citizens who are inspired to make the world a better place.

Local organizations that need caring volunteers seek out Branksome’s students for a wide range of roles, from volunteering in peer math tutoring to Best Buddies and Horizons.

With global connections, including our study abroad program with Branksome Hall Asia and other exchanges, we empower students to serve and learn worldwide.

Faculty and staff believe in modelling the behaviours we expect from our students, while at the same time learning from their example.

Our IB PROGRAM

Every Branksome Hall student from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 benefits from the IB curriculum. Cultivating curiosity, creative and critical thinking, and facilitating regular assessments and feedback, the IB offers unparalleled university preparation.

Branksome Hall's unique IB Select program empowers Grades 11 and 12 students to customize their course selections, leveraging their strengths.

INNOVATION

Students bring ideas to life, seek and solve problems and take risks. Our educators support entrepreneurship through research and our business accelerator program, Noodle. We also drive girls' education forward with projects such as the Karen L. Jurjevich Innovation Centre and Studio Theatre (iCAST).

Branksome strives to nurture transformational leaders who take initiative, listen and create opportunities, reinforce change and generate enthusiasm for their vision. They transcend self-interest by challenging and inspiring others to have the confidence to excel and the motivation to contribute in valuable and authentic ways to their communities.

Leadership opportunities are available across the school, from Grade 6 Action Leaders to Senior & Middle School Grade Representatives, Clubs and Council leaders.
