The Senior D1 Volleyball team at Branksome Hall has capped off an extraordinary season, finishing undefeated and claiming the provincial title at the OFSAA Girls AA Volleyball Championship on March 11.

The Highlanders finished the 2025–26 volleyball season with a perfect 16-0 win/loss record, giving up only three sets out of the 47 sets completed. After finishing in fifth last year, this win was a testament to their hard work and resilience.

Throughout the season, the team delivered a dominant performance in the Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA), winning each of their games against independent girls’ schools across Toronto. Their hard work and consistent play culminated in a CISAA championship victory against De La Salle College on Wednesday, February 25, marking a major milestone in what would become a historic season.

Following their conference win, the team advanced to compete at the provincial level at the OFSAA Girls AA Volleyball Championship over March Break, the highest level of high school girls’ volleyball in Ontario. Facing strong competition from across the province, the Highlanders continued their impressive run and advanced to the final match against Aurora High School at Conestoga College.

In the championship game, the team delivered a confident and composed performance, cheered on by their parents and friends in the bleachers. The team secured the four-set victory, including a 25–19 win in the final set to claim the provincial title. The win cements Branksome’s place at the top of Ontario high school volleyball and reflects the exceptional skill, teamwork and determination the players demonstrated throughout the season.

Family and friends cheered on the Highlanders at OFSAA.

“This group of student-athletes has cemented their place in the Branksome Hall history books,” said Head Coach Michael Cvitkovic. “To capture Branksome Hal’s first Ontario championship in the sport of volleyball has bonded these young women for life.”

“To see these 15 players come together, playing with unwavering commitment and fully supporting each other on the court and from the bench, every member of this team helped ensure that this season was a successful one,” Coach Leslie Miller reflected. “It was nerve-wracking as well as brilliant to see them play throughout the OFSAA tournament, to see them play with grit and unwavering determination to bring gold to Branksome.”
