Sophia Giacomelli will be continuing her education at The University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. Building off her education in economics at Branksome Hall, she is eager to take her passion for business a step further, and learn how to integrate that knowledge into the real world.
Sophia was selected to be part of her university’s Fellows Program, which provides students with the entrepreneurial skills and resources to start a company or join a pre-existing company. “The business I plan to start when I’m there is something that is going to help other women get into business,” Sophia shares, adding that she would like to send senior business leaders into schools to mentor students, or start an online application where students can learn more about different business fields in general.
Since Junior Kindergarten, Sophia has been involved in Athletics at Branksome Hall. During her graduating year, she was captain of the field hockey and golf teams. “Captaining a team is what has made me feel like I want to be a leader in the future,” she says. Through Athletics, Sophia has been able to foster environments where everyone is excited to be part of a team. She hopes to take these leadership skills with her into university and beyond.
“Branksome has 100% taught me to lead as a woman when I move forward,” Sophia excitedly shares. “Through my 14 years at Branksome, the school has taught me to use my voice, and that my voice actually matters and is valued.”
